Used it for the first time on OSR honey crop. The ease and speed of uncapping made it a joy to use.
We previously used a heated uncapping knife. This was the best solution we had found, but it does create a lot of wax cappings and is relatively slow. This roller base uncapper is a game changer, its far less messy, creates a lot less cappings to deal with and is so much faster/efficient. Previously the slowest process in our extraction was the uncapping, so the extractor spent a long time idle waiting for frames to be ready to spin. Now, its the extraction that's the slowest process.
Crossed my fingers & bought 1 ( my bee- buddy & I between us) at the honey show last year. Vindicated- very quick & easy to use after the first practice frame. Virtually no wax cappings- you do get some very fine particles passing through the filter. I fitted a honey valve to the box which makes life even easier as quite a bit of honey collects in it and doesn’t get wasted ☺️
I bought one of your uncappers at the National Honey show last year and eventually manage to use it for the first time last weekend.
My concerns regarding the expense evaporated very quickly and i found the unit much easier to use than expected.
I was also doubtful about how much honey we would be able to spin out but was pleasantly surprised to find most of the frames were almost empty afterwards - only a few had some weight to them but I am more than happy to feed that back to the bees
Just done our first harvest using our new national uncapper…… it was unbelievably easy to use, almost felt too easy to the point where I was wondering if I was doing something wrong it was so easy, and I just can’t believe how little wax was produced: around a tablespoons worth of cappings wax from three supers!! So glad we have it, it will transform our main harvesting.
